Gardening Jargon – Hardy

It describes a plant’s ability to  survive in lowest minimum temperatures. This word is mostly used where temperature might fall below normal.

Temperate region gardeners don’t have to worry with “hardy” tags.

• Salvia nemorosa
• Phlox
• Helenium
• Dianthus
• Japanese Anemone
• Penstemon
• Hardy Perennial Lilies

Hardy vegetable

• Spinach
• Kale
• Carrot
• Leeks
• Collards
• Parsnips
• Cabbage
• Swiss chard
