Gardening Jargon – Compost

Compost is an organic matter that has been decomposed from any green waste in to the fertilizer.  Green waste  are fallen leaves, dead plant or tree, egg shells, kitchen scraps, grass clipping etc.  It is rich in soil nutrients and act as key ingredient in Organic farming. It is used in gardens, landscaping, horticulture, and agriculture.

Also, remember compost is different from manure. If you add manure in your compost then you get a good soil conditioner.

Avoid using compost as direct medium to sow the seeds as it gets dry quickly. Best is to mix it with your yard soil.
