Gardening Jargon – Bokashi Composting
“Bokashi” is a Japanese term that means “fermented organic matter”. It is a dry mixture of bran, molasses, water and “effective microorganisms”. These microorganisms ferment kitchen food wastes, dairy, meat, fish, and leftover bones without creating a foul-smelling odor. It is popular among home gardeners because of its low odor and it doesn’t attract insects and flies.
